Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Add the applesauce, vegetable oil, milk, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. Serve and enjoy!
